The community off Rattlesnake Hammock Road has 59 single family homesites, a pilots' lounge, and a 4,400 ft. long runway, paved and lighted. Signs along the road inside the gated community tell drivers that "taxiing aircraft have the right of way." Since the 1970s, Collier County's only airpark, or "fly-in community," has attracted pilots who want to be able to use their planes, fixed wing or helicopters, without having to travel to an off-site airport first.
