What a lovely building with a rich history - hopefully the next owner will keep it intact.
Hurricane Donna hit Everglades City in 1960 and flooded most of the town, including the bank. Five feet of water covered the historic building’s beautiful hardwood floors, and all of the money inside the vault — $1 million — was soaked, so the bank dried the bills by hanging them on a clothesline outside … and not a single dollar went missing.
